Biography: Young Hoon Song has performed to critical acclaim as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Korea as well as cities in the U.S., China, Finland, Germany, France, U.K., Russia, the Middle East and Africa. For chamber music, he has collaborated with distinguished musicians including Kyung-Wha Chung, Arto Noras, Christian Zacharias, Frans Helmerson, Chee-Yun and Jason Vieaux. Moreover, he has played at festivals and major concert venues throughout the world, receiving the Korean Presidential Award and serving as Cultural Ambassador of Korea for the term 2001-2002. He has also appeared as guest principle cellist with English Chamber Orchestra and most recently, Seoul Philharmonic under the direction of Myung-Whun Chung. Currently he is a member of the piano quartet M.I.K. Ensemble, who just released their second album and successfully completed a Turkey and Israel tour in March ’07. Mr. Song studied with the late Channing Robbins, Ralph Kirshbaum and Arto Noras. He plays a Carlo Antonio Testore cello from Milan, 1704.
